As my sister Jess and I stepped off the ferry from Cebu, the warm Bohol breeze welcomed us. We couldn’t wait to explore this island paradise known for its lush jungle, pristine beaches, historic churches, and the world-famous Chocolate Hills.
Joining a group tour was the most budget-friendly way to maximize our time. We connected with 8 other travelers on Facebook who hired a van and driver for ₱1,800 ($34). Split 10 ways, it only cost us ₱180 ($3.50) each. The entrance fees and activities cost extra per person.
I’ll break down our jam-packed 4 day Bohol itinerary along with tips to plan your own adventure. Whether you want to chase waterfalls, island hop, or see the top attractions, this guide has something for every type of traveler.
Table of Contents
Day 1: Anda & Candijay
We started our first day chasing waterfalls and swimming in natural pools along Bohol’s eastern coast. The rocky cliffs and turquoise waters of Anda blew us away. We hiked through lush jungle and were rewarded with a secluded beach all to ourselves.
No Bohol trip is complete without seeing the world-famous Chocolate Hills in Carmen. Over 1,200 cone-shaped hills stretch as far as the eye can see. We explored the hills on ATVs, getting muddy as we splashed through rain puddles. The thick mud bath was worth it for the adrenaline rush and Instagram worthy photos!
Day 1 Costs: Van rental: ₱180 ($3.50) Entrance Fees: Chocolate Hills: ₱50 ($1) ATV Ride: ₱450 ($9) Total: ₱680 ($13)
Day 2: Bohol Countryside Tour
Since we split the van rental with other travelers, our transportation costs were extremely low. We paid entrance fees for each attraction like the Tarsier Sanctuary to see the world’s smallest primate and the epic Loboc River lunch cruise.
Floating down the Loboc River gorging on a buffet lunch while taking in lush jungle scenery was a highlight. We ended the evening with free accommodation from our van driver Kuya Jhoel. Making local friends is invaluable for insider travel tips!
