As you approach the island, you’ll catch sight of tiny cottages that appear to be floating on the ocean, signaling your proximity to this extraordinary destination. During high tide, adults can wade through knee-high waters, while younger children might find it a bit too deep. However, the emerald green waters beckon you to take a refreshing dip and bask in their crystal-clear beauty.
When the low tide arrives, the magical island begins to emerge, revealing its sandy expanse. Hurry and claim your spot before the crowds descend upon this ephemeral paradise.
Getting There: A Journey to the Vanishing Island
- From Legazpi City, hop on a passenger van at the Legazpi Bus Terminal bound for Bacacay, Albay.
- The 30-minute journey will bring you to the last stop, where the Bacacay Port is just a short walk away.
- The fare should not exceed 50 pesos.
Once at the port, look for passenger boats offering trips to the Vanishing Island. If none are available, you can rent a boat for 1,000 pesos, which can accommodate up to 10 people. The boat ride to the island takes approximately one hour from the port.
For our adventure, we contacted the Love Boat Tours Agency to assist us with our Vanishing Island trip. We paid 250 pesos per person as joiners, which covered only the round-trip boat transfer. You can reach them at 0916-293-8743.
